Cut[e] 1st issues printed
My friend and I work on a comic together. He writes the script; I draw it. He also does some graphic design and takes care of printing.
The comic is called "Cut[e]". It's a kind of doomer shitpost of a comic, which, in the way that doomer shiposts sometimes do, contains a lovely undercurrent of wit and
sincerity one might miss for the sardonic tone and acidic commentary. The story takes place in a futuristic Miami; though instead of the shiny synthwave retro-future that
city's name may conjure by association, I have taken a lot of inspiration from Cruelty Squad and current events. It's not a sewage-infused garbage world like Cruelty Squad,
but it is a visually disorienting hypercapitalist hell where every problem we have today has been extrapolated until the remnants of civilization teeter on the brink
of an unfathomable abyss. The plot of the comic itself is, however, more narrowly focused. A few unfortunates are caught up like garbage bags in the tides of international
intrigue and the excesses of private industry.
Just a few years ago, I came to my friend with a half-formed idea and a small group of characters. He interjected to say that he could write the thing. He did so;
adding some of the best characters along the way. As of now, issue #1 has been printed, and has even sold a copy.
My buddy/co-creator was kind enough to provide some photos:
